There are a lot of paths to recovery. Some would try to stop on their own; others try religion or self-help groups. Then there are those who enter an addiction treatment program to try and quench their bad habit.
There are tons of rehab centers available throughout the country. Each program has its own way of treating those who seek it. So choosing which program to enroll it will take a lot of thinking before you decide on one.
First of all, you must choose an addiction treatment program that is approved by your country should be accredited by the apt commission and Healthcare Providers. Not only do the rehabilitation centers must have proper licenses, its employees must also have the appropriate licenses and credentialed in the drug and alcohol treatment field.
Some rehabilitation centers have their own detoxification programs within their addiction treatment program. This provided a much higher sense of care, giving its patients a complete addiction treatment for their addiction.
Each addiction treatment program differs on the amount they charge. There are centers that are funded by the government while some are privately owned. Privately owned rehabilitation centers are more costly than the government subsidized centers. There are rehabilitation centers that accept private insurance. It is important that you first inquire with the center administration to know what your financial responsibility might be.
There are also programs for marginalized people. This is offered to help them recover from their addiction while becoming a more productive member of the community by developing their skills and zeal for living.
There are four types of treatment. First is the Outpatient Drug-Free Program. This program provides individual, group and family counseling. Patients in this type of program are usually those hooked on cocaine and/or alcohol. This program utilizes a wide variety of counseling styles. They would use medication as well as behavioral therapies to maximize the therapeutically response. The treatment could include psychiatric and outpatient detoxification.
Then there is the Opioid Agonist Program. This is a program designed to treat those addicted on heroin. This program provides counseling and at the same time administers either methadone or Levo-Alpha Acetyl Methadol (LAAM). These medications help block the withdrawal, craving and euphoric effects of heroin.
There’s the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program, which is designed for people addicted on drugs and alcohol. This program can last for a couple of days. The program utilizes counseling techniques based on self-help programs. You can also opt to have a medical and psychiatric screening to further learn what is wrong with the patient. Patients discharged from this program are usually referred to outpatient programs or self-help groups.
Lastly, there are therapeutic communities which are long term solution to the problem of addiction. This is for people who can’t seem to stop their dependence on drugs or alcohol through any other treatment. Stay in a therapeutic community is at a minimum of six months and could last longer. This is a highly structured program which utilizes behavior modification and gives their patients responsibility to make them socialize with others thus making this addiction treatment program successful.
